22 schools, representing undergraduate and graduate students from two- and four-year schools in the region, competed over the past 2 weeks for a chance to qualify for the Regional Finals.

The Mid-Atlantic CCDC is 1 of 9 regional competitions, all part of the Deloitte National CCDC. The Regional Finals takes place March 10-12, 2011 at the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Lab in Laurel, MD. For more information see: MidAtlanticCCDC.org.

George Washington University (Washington, D.C.) goes head-to-head with Howard Community College (Maryland) today (11:30am-2:30pm EST) in the 2nd of 8 rounds of the 2011 CyberWatch Mid-Atlantic CCDC virtual Qualifier.

The Community College of Baltimore County (Maryland) goes head-to-head with Craven Community College (North Carolina) today (10am-1pm EST) in the 1st of 8 rounds of the 2011 CyberWatch Mid-Atlantic CCDC virtual Qualifier. Forsyth Technical Community College was also slated to compete with CCBC and Craven Community College, but inclement weather in North Carolina forced their school to close.

Monday, January 10th, was supposed to be the first round of the virtual Qualifier, but due to the same weather storm, school closings for Asheville Buncombe-Technical Community College (North Carolina) and Catawba Valley Community College necessitated a re-schedule for Tuesday, January 25th. Capitol College (Maryland) is the third team competing against AB-Tech and CVCC.

22 schools, representing undergraduate and graduate students from universities and community colleges, will start competing January 10th in the 6th Mid-Atlantic Collegiate Cyber Defense Competition (CCDC) Virtual Qualifying Round:

• Each school will have 3 hours on their scheduled day to secure and protect their systems
• There will be seven rounds of three teams each and one round of two teams
• The winner from each round will be invited back for the Regional competition March 10-12, 2011

The competition schedule is as follows:

• Jan. 12: George Washington University, Howard Community College
• Jan. 13: James Madison University, Liberty University, Millersville University
• Jan. 14: Hagerstown Community College, Montgomery College, Northern Virginia Community College
• Jan. 17: Towson University, University of Maryland Baltimore County, University of Maryland College Park
• Jan. 21: University of Pittsburgh, Wilmington University, Virginia Tech University
• Jan. 24: Anne Arundel Community College, Forsyth Technical Community College, George Mason University
• Jan. 25: Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College, Capitol College, Catawba Valley Community College
